Puan Chan Cheong Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
Puan Chan Cheong was appointed as a Director of the Company on 1 November 2003.
Since 1 June 2004, Mr Puan is the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") of the Group as well as the founder, CEO and President of Green Packet Inc ("GPI"), a company incorporated in the United States of America ("USA"). He is a successful entrepreneur with more than 15 years in business covering diversified business interests in USA, Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China ("PRC") where he has successfully consulted, developed and managed telecommunications, infrastructure and property projects. On 20 December 2004, he was named as PIKOM's Technopreneur of the year 2004. He is a co-founder and sits on the Boards of the Company, GPI in the USA, Green Packet International Inc and Green Packet Holdings Ltd in the British Virgin Islands, as well as the IBI Group of companies in Malaysia, whose business activities include system integration, networking solutions, electronic manufacturing, retail and distribution and international trading. He is also a director of GMO Limited, a company incorporated in Jersey, Channel Islands and listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange.
Mr Puan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor Degree in Management Information Systems & Finance from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA.
Dr. Chen Liangsheng, Richard
Chief Technology Officer & VP Engineering
Dr. Chen Liangsheng is the Chief Technology Officer of the hardware and wireless networking technologies experiences. He plays the key role of software architect and leads the software engineering team in developing the SONaccess and SONbuddy products. He conducted software development and research at the University of California at Berkeley, the University of California at San Diego and the University of Science and Technology of China. He also worked at Seagate Technology as a Senior Advisory Engineer for software development. While his expertise is in the Microsoft Windows technology, he is also a SUN Certified Java Programmer and Oracle Certified Professional. Dr. Chen obtained a Certificate of Management of Technology Program and completed his Philosophy Doctorate Degree at the University of California, Berkeley. He obtained a Master in Science Degree from the University of California, San Diego and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Science and Technology of China.
Micheal Lai CEO of Green Packet International Sdn Bhd
Michael Lai is the CEO of Green Packet International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Green Packet. Green Packet International’s mission is to enable the converging world and keep citizens of the world always best connected.
Before Green Packet International, Michael was the CEO of TMNet, the largest ISP in Malaysia and South-East Asia during Michael's tenure. While leading TMNet, Michael catapulted TMNet into a RM1 Billion company within 1.5 year; quantum-leaped TM Net's profit before tax and broadband customers by more than 1100% and 352% respectively in one year.
Prior to TMNet, Michael was the SVP of Branding and Market Development for Celcom, Malaysia's premier mobile operator and the Marketing Director of Oracle Malaysia.
Michael is an Electrical Engineer by training with a Master Degree in Business Administration.
Prior to joining Green Packet, Michael was the Chief Executive Officer of TM Net Sdn Bhd from 2005. He was the Senior Vice President, Branding & Market Development of Celcom Malaysia Berhad and Marketing Director of Oracle Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd prior to leading TM Net.
Nik Mat Ismail Executive Director and Vice President of Business Development
Nik Mat Bin Ismail was appointed as an Executive Director of the Company on 3 September 2001.
Encik Nik is currently the Executive Director and Vice President of Business Development of the Company. He has more than 15 years' experience in international business development, sales and marketing. He enjoys an extensive network of contacts within the Government, local businesses and public listed companies. Prior to joining the Company, he was the Group CEO and co-founder of the IBI Group of companies in Malaysia. He had first worked in the insurance industry as a senior executive with a global insurer before setting up the IBI Group. He also sits on the Board of Green Packet Networks W.L.L, Bahrain, a joint venture company between GPB and Saudi Economic & Development Co Ltd (“SEDCO”) of Saudi Arabia. He does not hold any directorship in any other public company.
Encik Nik graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Utah State University, United States of America.
Kay Tan Chief Operating Officer of Green Packet Bhd
Tan Kay Yen is the Chief Operating Officer of Green Packet Bhd. His responsibilities in Green Packet Bhd include corporate communications, strategic planning, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions for the Green Packet Bhd Group. He started his career in banking with the Arab Malaysian Group in 1994. He was with the IBI Group of companies in 1996 as the operations manager responsible for the day to day operations and the setting up of retail branches throughout Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, majoring in Finance and Management Information Systems from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA.
Sung Jong Hwa Managing Director of Next Telecommunications Sdn Bhd
Sung Jong Hwa, aged 50, is the founder and Managing Director of Next Telecommunications Sdn Bhd. He started his career with LG Electronics Co Ltd (formerly known as Goldstar Co Ltd) in Korea. He was later assigned to LG in Australia to manage the operation over there. In 1990, he was transferred to Malaysia to conduct feasibility studies in the South East Asian market and was appointed the Managing Director of LG Electronics Co Ltd where he left in 1997. Having gained wide exposure in the electronics, IT and communications industry, he decided to venture into the telecommunications industry by setting up Next Telecommunications Sdn Bhd in 1998. Mr Sung holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics majoring in Foreign Trade from Sung Kyun Kwan University in Seoul, Korea.
Isaac Tan Taik Guan VP Operations & Support
Isaac Tan Taik Guan is the VP Operations & Support of Green Packet Bhd. He has been actively involved in the electronics manufacturing industry. In the last 5 years, he has been expanding his expertise into operations of new start-up, especially in the operational aspects of project planning, product development & management, quality assurance and materials management. He first started his career with Advanced Micro Devices in Penang as Production Engineer and has moved on to become among the pioneers in Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry in Malaysia. He has continuously been involved in various aspects of contract manufacturing, including order management, materials management, operations management, product introduction, end order fulfillment and business development. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.
