SONmobile is the client software component of the SONaccess Unified Mobility Solution and is installed on Mobile Devices (laptop computers, PDAs, smart phones). SONmobile provides optimal and hassle-free ubiquitous connectivity regardless of movement between different networks.

SONmobile enables a mobile user to enjoy uninterrupted Internet connectivity

to his/her online applications when roaming across different packet-based networks of participating service providers. The client software monitors the availability and link status of the available networks and automatically performs seamless handoffs so that an optimal network connection is used. All this is performed behind-the-scenes without requiring any user intervention while maintaining the user’s ongoing data session.

To ensure end-to-end security and data integrity, SONmobile acts as a Mobile VPN client by creating a secure IPsec-based VPN tunnel to the SONaccess server’s VPN gateway. Mobile VPN poses an advantage over traditional VPNs as it maintains the secure VPN tunnel as you move across different networks. In addition, SONmobile can also be configured to activate a third-party VPN client automatically upon roaming to ensure inter-operability with your existing VPN systems.
